Open Letter from CCH Alumni to Board of Governors
Dear Members of the Board
Cadet College Hasanabdal, the very name of this institution is synonymous for extraordinarily high quality of education, traditions and heritage; greatly admired by very loyal alumni. We write out of grave concern for essential working relationships between college administration and board of governors. The crisis faced is based on lack of governance and damage continues to the college’s administrative operations and prestige.
Our trust in Board of governors is at risk because of an unexplained and still unresolved episode, which is the evaluation of the merits for appointment of last principal. Mr. Muhammad Asif Malik was overage by 09 years and 11 months on 31.08.2009; the last date for the receipt of principal’s application. In his appointment letter it was recommended to Board of Governors to relax this age limit by 10 years, conveniently accommodating him, in the next meeting which ironically is yet to convene three years on and counting.
We urge that Board's procedures be followed without any relaxation of laws for the recruitment of new principal; someone with substantive reputation and administrative eminence who must precede efforts to re-establish the traditions and strengthen the college academically.
The entire alumni community feels alienated retrospectively, for the conduct of college administration and oversight of this administration by the board of governors, and was unable to convey it’s concerns to the members. Hence we feel the need of representation of alumni in board of governors through our elected president of Hasanabdal Old Boys Association. We feel it’s imperative to reestablish the link between alumni and Board of Governors.
