In 2012, a group of like minded Abdalians residing in USA started to brainstorm about having an alumni organization of Abdalians in North America. Input and suggestions were solicited through various available contacts. An organizing committee of interested Abdalians from various backgrounds and entry sessions was formed.

The committee decided to register a not-for-profit, non-political, non-religious organization open to all Abdalians residing in North America, to foster contact and relationship amongst them. It would aim to help CCH, its current and past students, and to engage in social, educational and relief activities. The organization was registered in the State of California in October 2012.

The interim organizational structure consists of a board of eight Abdalians, the initial members of the organizing committee. This interim arrangement will work towards the following ends:

1. Registration with the IRS as a not for profit organization
2. Collection of database of Abdalians residing in North America
3. Establishing a social media network presence
4. Soliciting membership and active participation from all Abdalians
5. Finding a point person for each entry
6. Drafting initial set of bylaws
7. Arranging for an Abdalian get together before the end of 2014.

We are in the process of reaching out to all Abdalians to get on board. We ask each one of you residing in North America to participate in this process.

In order to comply with the paperwork for the State of California, open the bank account and file for IRS, office positions were filled temporarily to meet the requirements of the regulatory agencies.

These positions for the interim period, till the Bylaws are adopted and drafted and larger membership based organization is formed,are filled as follows:

VC BOT:           Omar Atiq
Chair BOT:        Maqbool Arshad

These positions will be replaced with the elected individuals as soon as we have enough members in the organization, most likely in 6-10 months.
