Syed Aqil Shah injured in Peshawar bomb blast

Syed Aqil Shah, from the 10th entry and the former President of Abdalian Association, sustained injuries in a bomb blast outside Greens Hotel in Peshawar on monday evening. Atleast four other people including a security guard and two passers by also got wounded. The blast which triggered a fresh wave of fear among the people of Peshawar occurred just opposite the Greens Hotel and a branch of Muslim Commercial Bank on Saddar Road around 8:30 pm on 26 March, 2007. Syed Aqil Shah has been admitted in to the Peshawar CMH and is told to be out of danger and in high spirits

The motorbike in which the bomb had been planted broke into three pieces. The chinese made 70cc bike did not have any number plate affixed to it as well which was parked at a specific spot.

The explosive was quite powerful and its sound was heard at quite some distance. Window panes of nearby building were smashed while huge billboards and some shutters were also damaged.

Aqil Shah, a former senator and incumbent Secretary Information of the Awami National Party (ANP) owns the chain of Greens Hotels across the country. Besides, he is also heading the NWFP chapter of the Pakistan Olympic Association as its President since last year.

The city police Chief, Abdul Majeed Marwat, who also is an Abdalian (15th entry) told local journalists that the device was a time bomb planted in the motor bike.
