Maj. Gen. Javed Iqbal recently got posted as the Director General Frontier Works Organization (FWO). Gen. Javed is a second generation soldier and is from the famous 13th Entry (1966-1971). He was in Liaqat Wing and then moved to Haider Wing, when there used to be four junior and 2 senior wings.
He joined the Corps of Engineers in 1975, like his father and is a graduate of Command and Staff College Quetta, Royal Military College of Sciences, Shrivenham, UK, National Defence University Islamabad and Military College of Engineers, Risalpur. He has also served in Saudi Arabia and attended various courses in the US.
Gen. Javed has commanded two Engineer Batallions and has been Commander Engineers 4 Corps and PSO to Joint Chief's of Staff Committee. He has also been Brigade Major (BM) of an Infantry Brigade and Directing Staff at Command and Staff College Quetta.
The 13th Entry is famous for its strong network despite leaving Cadet College many years ago and the entry mates in Islamabad and Rawalpindi still meet every month for dinner.
