Mini Sports Fixture/Career Counseling Session by Old Abdalians

Career Briefing being conducted in Naeem Hall

Career Briefing Audience

A mini Sports fixture cum career counseling session was held at Cadet College Hasanabdal on Sunday 1st February 2009. Almost 20 Abdalians from the 44th, 46th and 50th entries participated in the Football and Cricket Matches. The event was arranged by the 44th entry Abdalians and its prime purpose was to provide the Cadets an opportunity to interact with their seniors. Unavailability of a counseling department in the College urged the 44th entry Abdalians to have this event organized. Naeem Hall seemed to have a much bigger audience as compared to the last AGM, which showed how well the event was handled by 44th Entry.

The day kicked off with sports activities. Both the matches were evenly contested and a good number of cadets came to watch the matches. In the football match the young abdalians overcame a tough resistance from the older lot by a margin of 4-2. The first half saw a tense battle where the score stood at 1-1. However, the old boys failed to muster the fitness required to match their much fit opponents in the second half and went down fighting.

The cricket match too was a nail biting affair but the experience and guile of the Oldies was enough to overcome the belligerant CCH team.Chasing a mammoth 133 in 12 overs the old boys cruised to their target in 11 overs that included 10 huge sixes.

The career counseling session, arguably the most important event of the day took place after the lunch/Zuhr Break. 44th Entry Abdalians, comprised of Alumni from various prestigious institutes such as GIKI, LUMS, AMC, NUST, LSE, UET-Lahore, Ayub Medical College, NCA etc briefed the 1st year/2nd year Abdalians on the current ins and outs of industry, and the important aspects on choosing the right career. It was unanimously agreed that its the individuals interest and passion that should govern the career path. The seniors also stressed the importance of Communication skills as an important success tool in the current job market.

The Old Abdalians thank the college administration and the vice Principle Mr.Abdual Qayyum(alongwith Mr.Amjad Janjua and Mr.Amir Rauf from the faculty) in particular for arranging and very well managed event. It gave a chance to the young abdalians to have a better insight in the current educational practices. It also gave a chance to the old abdalians to revisit their much cherished memories of the lush green field and brick walls of CCH.

The event was coordinated by Tanzeel ur Rehman ,Usman Ehtisham and Fazal Hameed Mirza(All from the 44th Entry). We wish to make this a regular and more organized event so that the young generation can utilize the maximum from their seniors.
