The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan has so far produced more than 9000 specialists in forty two disciplines of medicine and surgery since its inception in 1962 in Karachi. Two Abdalians - Amer Aziz and Shoaib Shafi got elected in this years election as Council Members.
Every four years the specialist doctors from all over Pakistan elect a council of twenty members. Elections for the 2007-2010 Council were held on 10th February, 2007. A free and transparent election was conducted nationally and a new Council was elected.

Prof. Amer Aziz, a reknowned orthopaedic surgeon (Osama Bin Laden fame) got the highest number of votes in the whole of Pakistan. Prof. Amer Aziz is from the 15th Entry (1968 to 1973) and was the Wing Commander of Jinnah Wing and the Cadet Captain. According to Dr. Amer Aziz the country badly needs trained orthopaedic surgeons throughout the length and breadth of the country, and he as a member shall be advising the Council on this matter.
Prof. Shoaib Shafi is from the 17th Entry (1970-1975) and was in Iqbal Wing. He is curently the Professor of Medicine at Rawalpindi General Hospital and a faculty member in Rawalpindi Medical College. In Cadet College, he was the captain of the riding club and president of the hiking and mountaineering club. He is a graduate of King Edward Medical College (1982) and was awarded Fellowship of American College of Physicians in 1997 and the Fellowship of Royal College of Physicians Ireland in 2005. He also heads the Pakistan Green Task Force whose members are young doctors and students.
