Mian Naeem Shahid, a pioneer in the field of Clinical and Pharmacy Informatics, has taken an Informaticist and IT specialist position with the National Enterprise Product Development and Support Team, of the United States Department of Veteran’s Health Administration’s Office of Information and Technology as of June 2011. He has worked for the United States Veteran’s Affairs New Jersey Healthcare System as Director of Pharmacy Informatics prior to this assignment. His career accomplishments include helping to develop clinical and pharmacy softwares that are used in 160 Veteran hospitals nationwide and being the recipient of numerous local, regional and national awards. An award for his services was presented by Mr. Anthony Principi, honorable Secretary of Veteran’s Affairs under President George W. Bush’s first term.
Mr. Shahid, more commonly known as Mr. Mian, initialized the electronic pharmacy application at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital in 1997. He is currently advising the government of Grenada in the West Indies on the implementation of electronic health care systems for the three-island nation.
Naeem Mian is a registered Pharmacist and part-time Associate Professor with the Department of Pharmacology at Saint George’s University School of Medicine. He belongs to the 17th Entry and was in Omar Wing in Cadet College Hasanabdal.
