AANA holds first General Body Meeting

The first General Body Meeting of Abdalian Association of North America (AANA) was held on August 16th, 2014 at Gaylord National Harbor. Around sixty Abdalians attended the reunion. The participants ranged from 5th Entry Shaukat Ashai to Junaid Riaz from the 58th Entry and still a cadet at CCH. There were overseas guests, Capt Javed Malik of 12th Entry from Pakistan and and Ali Razzaque, 20th Entry from Cairo. Abdalians from all walks of life, physicians, engineers, bankers, government officers and entrepreneurs were present. Col Salman Wasif 32th Entry, currently serving at the Pakistan Embassy in DC was there. Asif Chaudhry 16th Entry, the former US Ambassador to Moldova, highest serving Abdalian in the US Government official was also present.
Raza Anwar 21/J welcomed the gathering, while Nasir Gondal 20/J gave the historical background, aims and objectives of the organization. Omar Atiq 19/J gave details to the participants about the election process. The election process was finalized during the meeting when the last BOT member was elected from the floor. Maqbool Arshad, Chair BOT gave his report. It was followed by a presentation of College reconstruction efforts and AANA Housing Initiative details by Aamir Shah 14th Entry. Then everybody introduced themselves and mentioned an anecdote or two from their time at CCH. It ended by the remarks from Imran Ali 20/H, the newly elected President of the Association.
Pledges were collected for the Housing Initiative. The details will follow later. The amount pledged was more than anticipated.Special thanks to the members of the Local Host Committee Imran Mufti 14th, Zahid Mahmood 15th, Zubair Niazi 20th and Omar Ali, son of Imran Ali who manned the registration desk and made sure everybody paid.
