Prof. Asif Malik appointed new Principal Print E-mail

Prof. Asif Malik was recently appointed as the new Principal of Cadet College Hasanabdal. He was selected for this position out of a few other candidates like Mr. Misbah-ul-Hasnain, Mr. Sohail Rabbani and Brig. Ahmed Riza Siddiqi. Prof. Asif Malik has earlier served Cadet College Hasanabdal as a faculty member from 1965 to 1975. He now succeeds Air Commodore Tayyab Akhtar, who has moved on to be the Principal of PAF College Sargodha.

Born in 1943 at Lahore, he spent his early childhood at Rawalpindi. In 1948 he was admitted in the Presentation Convent High School. In 1954 he joined Saint Mary’s Cambridge Academy from where did his Senior Cambridge. In 1959 he joined Government College, Lahore and left that institution after six years with a   Masters degree in Physics.

In 1965 he joined Cadet College Hasanabdal as a lecturer and stayed there till 1975 when he left for Nigeria. There he rose to the position of a Principal Education Officer and came back in 1983 to join a subsidiary of Fauji Foundation. In 1987 he was appointed as the Project Director and Principal of Cadet College Mastung. In 1990 he took over as Principal of   Lawrence College Gora Gali and remained as its Head for six years.  In 1996 he was the Principal of Cadet College Plandri, where after serving for a short time he joined the City Schools Network as a Regional Director. He left for Abu Dhabi in 1998 as Principal of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Arab Pakistan School. After serving at Abu Dhabi for four years he came back in 2002 and served as Principal of Sadiq Public School, Bahawalpur till November 2007.

He has all along been an enthusiastic sportsman. He captained his School Cricket Team, played Cricket and Basketball for Government College Lahore and was the Campellpur (Attock)   District Single and Double Tennis for four years.

In 1989 he attended the advance management and administration course conduced by the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA). In 1994, in recognition of his meritorious services he was awarded the President’s Award of Pride of Performance.
