Zafar A. Khan, a senior Abdalian, was appointed as the new Chairman of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) by the government, replacing Mr. Tariq Kirmani. Mr. Zafar Khan was the Chairman of the Karachi Stock Exchange and will assume his new office in a weeks time. He was the only non-broker and non-member Chairman of KSE. He is a mechanical engineer and made his career with Esso, Exxon, and later Engro Chemical Pakistan Limited from where he retired as the President & CEO in January 2004.
With his appointment as the Chairman of PIA, the skies of Pakistan are now under the leadership of Abdalians, as Air Blue, the other leading airline in the private sector is also being headed by an Abdalian, Mr. Tariq M. Chaudhry. Well done boys - keep the flag high!
Mr. Zafar Khan is currently serving as the Chairman of KSE. In addition he is serving on the Boards of PTCL, Engro Chemical, Sui Southern Gas and Ghandhara Nissan. Mr. Khan is the former President of the Overseas Chamber. He is keenly interested in promoting causes associated with Corporate Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility & Philanthropy.
