Asim Shahryar appointed PSEB's Managing Director

Asim Shahryar is an Abdalian from the 27th entry (Omar Wing). After Cadet College Hasanabdal, he completed his BS in Computer Systems Engineering from Stanford University, California in 1992. After graduating, he worked in the Silicon Valley as a software engineer with Viewlogic, Siemens, and Oracle. He then joined the MBA Marketing program at Duke University, North Carolina in 1996. After his MBA, he worked as an Online Marketing Manager at IONA Technologies. Asim returned to Pakistan in 2002 and worked in senior marketing management positions at LMK Resources, Transworld, and Wi-tribe.
Before joining PSEB, he was CEO of COMSATS Internet Services, Pakistan’s pioneer ISP, for 4 years where he grew the ISP’s revenue by 83% during this period. Since joining PSEB as Managing Director in July 2014, he has focused on international marketing and industry support programs to strengthen the IT industry of Pakistan. As a result of these initiatives, IT remittances as reported by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) have increased by 35% when compared with previous year. Also, number of IT companies registered with PSEB has grown by more than 11% to 1150 at present and this number is growing every month.
Asim has been contributing to 27th entry’s scholarship program on a regular basis which funds tuition costs of a number of underprivileged students at Hasanabdal every year.
