Syed Ashfaq Hussain hosts dinner for the Principal

Virsa Cafe IslamabadSyed Ashfaq Hussain, President of Abdalians' Association hosted a dinner in honour of Prof. Asif Malik, Principal Cadet College Hasanabdal, on 25th February, 2010. Even though the invitation was extended at a very short notice - a day prior, the dinner was attended by a good number of Abdalians from various entries. Its was held at VIrsa Cafe, a scenic spot on Garden Avenue, around the Shakarparian Hills in Islamabad.

Despite the light drizzle which was carrying on since late evening resulting in a slight chill, the Principal reached the venue, spot on time at 7:45pm. He was greeted by the President of the Association, Syed Ashfaq Hussain and Mr. Sikandar Khattak and then went inside to meet each one of the Abdalians present there.

Col. Anwar (Ex MNA), Amin Hashim, Pervez Qureshi represented the 10th Entry, whereas many others from 11th till 20th Entry and some even from the 50th Entry were present also. After the pina colada, a very sumptuous dinner was served followed by qehwa.

Mian Naeem Shahid's mother passes away

It is with profound grief that we have learnt of the sad demise of Mian Naeem Shahid's mother, who passed away on 24th July, 2011, in a hospital in Kentucky, USA and was buried in New Jersey, where Mian Naeem lives.

We pray that Allah gives her His choicest place in Heaven and give the family the courage to bear this great loss.

Khurram Dastgir Khan elected MNA from Gujranwala

Engr. Khurram Dastgir Khan of 29th Entry (Iqbal Wing) was elected recently to the National Assembly from NA-96 (Gujranwala) on a PML-N ticket.  On 24 March 2008, he moved the first-ever bill of the 13th National Assembly when he submitted the "Oath of Office (Judges) Order (Repeal) Act".

Khurram continues the legacy of his father, Ghulam Dastgir Khan.  Dastgir Senior won election to the National Assembly in 1977, 1990, 1993, and 1997; he also served twice in the federal cabinet as Minister for Labour, Manpower, and Overseas Pakistanis and later as Minister for Local Government and Rural Development.

Khurram was serving as Special Assistant to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the time of the army takeover in October 1999.  While under military house arrest, he raised one of the first voices for democracy when he condemned the coup d'etat on BBC World Service Radio mere two days after Musharraf's imposed martial law.  He contested unsuccessfully the 2002 general election on a PML-N ticket and was appointed Central Joint Secretary and ex-officio member of Central Working Committee of PML-N in April 2006.  He is a member of PML-N's Policy Planning Committee that prepared the 2007 manifesto of the Party.

Waleed Haider's father passes away

It is with profound grief that we have learnt of the sad demise of Waleed Haider Malik's father, who passed away on Friday, 24th June, 2011, in Canada. His namaz-e-janaza was held at their village near Kallar Kahar on Wednesday, 29th June, 2011 while the qul khwani was held on Thursday, 30th June.

We pray that Allah gives him His choicest place in Heaven and give the family the courage to bear this great loss.

56th Parent Day held at CCH

The 56th Annual Parent Day was held at Cadet College Hasanabdal on 22nd December, 2009. The Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif was the chief guest, who reviewed the parade and gave away the prizes and trophies. This was the first Parent Day under the command of the new Principal, Prof. Asif Malik.

The event was attended in large numbers by the parents, guests, old boy's and including senior Abdalians like Mr. Ijaz Gillani, Khawaja Asif, Lt. Gen. Afzal Janjua, Mr. Rashid Khan and Mr. Adil Khattak. The Chief Minister announced to double the annual grant from Rs. 20 million to Rs. 40 million and also announced a grant of Rs. 100 million over three years for repairs and upgradation of the wings.
