Mini Sports Fixture/Career Counseling Session by Old Abdalians

Career Briefing being conducted in Naeem Hall

Career Briefing Audience

A mini Sports fixture cum career counseling session was held at Cadet College Hasanabdal on Sunday 1st February 2009. Almost 20 Abdalians from the 44th, 46th and 50th entries participated in the Football and Cricket Matches. The event was arranged by the 44th entry Abdalians and its prime purpose was to provide the Cadets an opportunity to interact with their seniors. Unavailability of a counseling department in the College urged the 44th entry Abdalians to have this event organized. Naeem Hall seemed to have a much bigger audience as compared to the last AGM, which showed how well the event was handled by 44th Entry.

The day kicked off with sports activities. Both the matches were evenly contested and a good number of cadets came to watch the matches. In the football match the young abdalians overcame a tough resistance from the older lot by a margin of 4-2. The first half saw a tense battle where the score stood at 1-1. However, the old boys failed to muster the fitness required to match their much fit opponents in the second half and went down fighting.

The cricket match too was a nail biting affair but the experience and guile of the Oldies was enough to overcome the belligerant CCH team.Chasing a mammoth 133 in 12 overs the old boys cruised to their target in 11 overs that included 10 huge sixes.

Abdalian-13 celebrate their 42nd birthday

42nd Birthday CakeAbadalian-13 joined HasanAbdal on 26 May 1966. This day is celebrated now as a regular event as family picnics. Abdalian-13 celebrated their 42nd Birthday at Mangla Resort on 26 May 2008. The event is about a year old, but the news is being published now for the benefit of others. This may also motivate other entries to follow suit.

Col. (R) Irtiza Shaheen, who was based at Mangla, was the host of this event and Abdalian-13 families from Lahore and Peshawar were also invited. One among these at Sahiwal also made it with his family. The function was held on a raft with live Bar-B-Q and Puri.  Starting with a late breakfast / brunch, participants remained busy going down memory lane and eating the whole day and concluded it by cutting the Birthday Cake. The cake was jointly cut by the Abdalian-13 children. The function was dominated by very well organized boat rides for ladies and the kids.
