The Secretary General, Capt. (Retd) Nayayr Islam in his annual report at the AGM on Sunday, 25th January 2009 mentioned that the Abdalians Association did not have a permanent office which posed hindrance in the operations of the Association. He further said that Lt. Gen. Mohsin Kamal had facilitated in acquiring office premises in the Pindi Club Building, but the option was dropped due to the fact that the Association could not afford the rental of Rs. 10,000 per month.
At this point, Tariq O. Rehman (17th Entry) stood on a point of order and lauded the contribution made by Syed Ashfaq Hussain towards facilitation in providing office space to the Abdalians Association since 1999. He further said, that Ashfaq Hussain had not only helped in providing office space, but had also made available his staff for rendering administrative services to the Association, apart from taking on all expenses related to meeting held in his premises. Tariq asked the House to recognize the services rendered by Syed Ashfaq Hussain, to which the House gave a big round of applause.
Syed Ashfaq Hussain (11th Entry) was elected as the President in January 2008 and is the Chief Executive Officer of Karcon (Pvt) Limited.

The Annual General Meeting and the Annual Get-together was held today (Sunday, 25-Jan-2009) at Cadet College Hasanabdal. This year the attendence was very low compared to the last few years, which has been on the decline. The President, Syed Ashfaq Hussain specially mentioned that the attendance of 50-60 people is abysimal. The event started with the dua at the monument with a very few people present there. The slight drizzle shifted the venue of registration from the lawns in front of the Staff Room to the new library. One of the reasons attributed to the low attendance is that this year there were no elections. The old boys were served with tea and biscuits in the library, while some of them were seen busy catching up on old times at the steps of the Education Block. This year a fresh change was also witnessed as the usual VIP Car Park and General Car Park direction boards were not seen upon entering the College premises. As a result the area designated for parking was infront of the College hospital. After registration and the dua, the old boy's proceeded to Naeem Hall to participate in the formal proceedings of the Annual General Meeting. The AGM started with the recitation of the Holy Quran which was followed by the Principal's welcome address. It was a good sight to see a formal presentation made by the Principal which touched topics like achievements of cadets in academics and capitals works undertaken by the administration. The audience noted with concern that the academic results of the College were on the decline in the usual disciplines of medical and engineering. The O-Level results, however, showed year-on-year improvements. |
