Abdalians Alumni Home

Years old information appears as current on Abdalians Association web site

An interesting scenario was witnessed on visiting the official site of Abdalians' Association on Tuesday, 13-Jan-2009. The information published under the "Governing Bodies" and the Executive Committee does not portray the current status of the Associations' "Governing Body". According to the information published, the Governing "Bodies" include Syed Aqil Shah as the President of the Association. In actual fact, the current President of the Association is Syed Ashfaq Hussain, who was unanimously elected at the last Annual General Meeting held in January 2008.

Similarly, The Vice Presidents of various chapters are being mentioned incorrectly. For example, Brig. Rashid, who is the Vice President Sind Chapter does not appear anywhere on the site. Instead, it is Mr. Tariq Ikram, who was an earlier office-bearer appears as the current Vice President. Surprisingly enough, the information is as current as Monday, 12th January, 2009.

Tariq PervezThe Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Tariq Pervez, refused to get an extension in his service and retired gracefully on Monday, 29th December, 2008. He is an Abdalian from the 1960 Entry, and his son, Qasim, also happens to be an Abdalian.

“I am fully satisfied that I retire with honour and dignity, and this is very important to me,” he said. Tariq Pervez plans to engage in counter-terrorism efforts and may join a think-tank.
