Nayyar Islam appointed Secretary Finance of HOBA

Capt. (Retd) Nayyar Islam has been appointed as Secretary Finance by Syed Ashfaq Hussain, President, Abdalians Association. This announcement was made public only a few days back, through the Abdalians web site (www.abdalian.net.pk) in a donation appeal made for flood victims by Mr. Qaisar Manzoor, who was the only guest invited at the meeting of office-bearers of Abdalian Association. Nayyar Islam was the Secretary General for the last four years and his term expired in January 2010.

Congratulations Nayyar! A very well deserved appointment! Mr. Nayyar Islam, who is from the 15th Entry, has been an office bearer of Abdalians Association for more than 10 years in a row, holding almost all appointments except that of the President.

76.8% voters say only registered Abdalians should be allowed to add comments on this site

Click picture to enlargeA poll was carried out by the Web Site Administration Team which lasted for one month starting from 05-Apr-2009 to 05-May-2009. Visitors were asked to respond to the question, whether - "Only registered Abdalians should be allowed to post comments on news and articles on this site"? They were given three options out of which they were to select one (a) Yes, (b) No and (c) Don't Know.

A total of 56 votes were polled by people who visited the site and responded to the poll. 76.8% of the people (43 votes) responded by saying  "Yes" signifying that they think that only registered members should be allowed to comment on news and articles on this site. There were 21.4% of the people (12 votes) who responded by saying "No", while there were 1.8% (1 vote) who responded by saying "Don't Know".

Ever since the Abdalians Alumni Home was launched on 26 Dec '08 the web site has witnessed intense activity from people who have registered on the web site and many others who were just plain visitors, redirected by various search engines.

The Web Site Administration Team wishes to express its gratitude to all 56 people who polled and gave their opinion. In light of the poll results, comments by visitors will from now on only be allowed to Abdalians who are registered members on this web site.

Engr. Jameel Malik contesting PEC Elections

A senior Abdalian of 11th Entry and Ex-Secretary General of Abdalians Association, Engineer Jameel Ahmad Malik is contesting the election for the coveted post of Chairman of PEC as per Final list issued by PEC.

The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) is conducting the elections for PEC Executive Committee (2011-2013) for Chairman, Vice Chairman and 50 elected members of the Executive Committee as per prevailing provisions of the PEC Act 1976 as amended upto 24th November 2004, and under Bye-laws 1976.

It would not be out of place to mention here that it was under Engr Jameel's tenure as Secretary General when the Articles of Memorandum and Association of Abdalians Association got registered with the Registrar Co-operative Societies, Islamabad. He also started the Abdalians forum at YahooGroups..

Dr. Kamal Azhar's father passes away

It is with profound grief that we have learnt about the news of the sad demise of Dr. Kamal Azhar Minhas's father, who passed away in the early hours on Wednesday, 11th April, 2012, in Lahore. His burial took place in Lahore the same day at 5:15 pm. The funeral was attended by a large cross-section of people, including Kamal Azhar's friends from Cadet College Hasanabdal.

We pray that Allah gives him His choicest place in Heaven and give the family the courage to bear this great loss.

Kashmir Education Foundation opened its third school

 

KASHMIR EDUCATION FOUNDATION (KEF) (www.kefintl.org) is providing high quality liberal education to the children especially female students of underprivileged communities of Azad Kashmir & Pakistan. KEF is a non profit, non political NGO that has to sustain its efforts through donors. The organization was founded in 1994 and has now three schools and a Teacher Training Institute, as Centres of Excellence.  It is registered as a charity in U.K. (No. 1082299), USA (No. 30-0047316), Canada and Pakistan and exempted from income tax. Zakir Habib Khan, from the 16th Entry is one of the Trustees of the Foundation.
