Major General Naveed Zaman's brother-in-law dies in terrorist attack

Major General Naveed Zaman's brother-in-law, a serving Army brigadier and his driver were gunned down here early on Thursday, 22-Oct-2009 while his gunman was critically wounded. Two motorcyclists intercepted his official jeep in Sector G-11/1 and sprayed it with automatic fire.

The incident occurred at 8:32am when Brigadier Moeenuddin Ahmad was on his way to his office in his military jeep along with his driver Havaldar Asghar Ali and gunman Sabir Ali. Two motorcyclists intercepted the jeep near Street-5 and opened indiscriminate fire at the vehicle. The jeep was hit from three sides. The attackers then sped away towards the residential area of the sector.

Mr. Dilshad gets a standing ovation at his farewell

BackdropProf. Dilshad Hussain was the chief guest at the farewell dinner given in his honour on 18th December, 2006 at Islamabad Club. The dinner was arranged in the Islamabad Golf Club building. As space was a little limited, ladies were served in the main hall, while the boys were served food in the marquee on the first floor. The function was attended by well over 300 people.

Later the guests all walked over to the auditorium of the Club, which was well adorned by a wonderful backdrop bearing an abstarct photograph of Mr. Dilshad Hussain, alongwith the sponsors banners. Lt. Gen. Masood Aslam, President of Abdalians' Association paid a rich tribute to Dilshad Sb for his lifetime services to Cadet College. Earlier, the Secretary General, Brig (Retd) Noor-ud-Din Ahmed, in his welcome address, praised the former Principal for his dedication to the cause of Cadet College and education.

Col. Amjad Shafi's wifes qul khwani today

Farewell dinner given to Prof. Syed Dishad Hussain

Saeed Mehdi and PrincipalProf Syed Dilshad Hussain was the guest of honour at a farewell dinner hosted by the President, Abdalians' Association, Lt. Gen. Masood Aslam on 10th November, 2006 at the Artillery Officers Mess, Rawalpindi. The dinner was attended amongst others, by senior Abdalians to show gratitude and respects on behalf of all Abdalians. The senior boys included Mr. Saeed Mehdi, Col. Shuja Mirza and Lt. Gen. Iftikhar Ali Khan.

All Abdalians present were at one time Mr. Dishad's students. After the dinner, Lt. Gen. Masood Aslam presented a shield as a token of rememberance of the occasion and as a gesture of gratitude to Mr. Dilshad for his enormous contribution to Cadet College spanning over 52 years. Mr. Dilshad also gave a small speech at the end of the presentation ceremony, becoming a emotional at times, but keeping his calm as always and said that "Whatever I have learnt, I have learnt at Hasanabdal".

Air Commodore (Retd) Tayyab Akhtar, the incoming Principal was also present, who after the dinner said that, "I have a huge burden on my shoulders to carry the torch forward".

Mumtaz Kanju (14th Entry) passes away

It is with profound grief that we have learnt of the sad demise of Mr. Muhammad Mumtaz Kanju from the 14th Entry (1967-1972 Omar Wing) on 16th February, 2011.

We pray to Almighty Allah to bless his soul and grant him His choicest place in Heavens and give his family the courage to bear this great loss.
