Abdalians clinch the Kohat Tunnel Project

Pakistan's first Tunnel (Kohat Tunnel) operations have been awarded to AXS Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd which is headed by Syed Ashfaq Hussain, the Chief Executive Officer and an Abdalian (11th Entry). An important segment of the project, the Electronic Toll and Traffic Management System, is being handled by Tariq Rehman (17th Entry). Tariq is the Vice President at VisualSoft (Pvt) Ltd looking after Business Development affairs.

Omar Ali joins Medical College of Wisconsin

Pediatric endocrinologist Omar Ali, MD, FAAP, has been appointed assistant professor of pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin and to the medical staff of Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, a major teaching affiliate.Omar Ali

In addition to caring for children in all aspects of endocrinology, his research interests are in childhood obesity, insulin resistance and diabetes, as well as the endocrine problems of children with chronic neurological disorders such as Prader-Willi syndrome and cerebral palsy.

Dr. Ali comes to the Medical College from Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, Calif., where he served as assistant professor of pediatric endocrinology, after completing a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at UCLA-Mattel Children's Hospital in Los Angeles.

He also completed a fellowship in ambulatory and community pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, and a pediatric residency, as chief resident, at Jersey City Medical Center in New Jersey, where he was honored as Best Attending Physician of the Year, by residents.

A native of Pakistan, he graduated second in a class of 300 from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, where he won awards as the best student in physiology, pharmacology and biochemistry.

Dr. Ali completed his premedical studies at Cadet College in Hasanabdal, Pakistan, where he was named top student in the premedical program.

9th Entry celebrates its Golden Jubilee

Ninth Entry joined Cadet College Hasan Abdal on 28 April 1962 and decided to organize a two day Golden Jubilee on 28-29 April 2012. By the Grace of Allah, celebrations turned out to be a grand success because of wholehearted participation by all ‘Niners’ and their families (in all, over 150, including faculty, attended). Hats off to those who traveled from Canada, USA, Saudi Arabia, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawer, Hasan Abdal and Wah Cantt to join the crowd from Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

From the faculty Prof M A Bokhari, Prof Mehboob Alam, Prof Shahid Shamsi, Prof Misbah, Prof Faqeer, Prof Hasnain, Prof Asif Malik (Principal), Prof Qayyum (VP), Prof Saggu (VP Coord), daughter of Prof N A Beg and son of Prof Asim Khurshid attended. HOBA was represented by Capt Nayyar and Dr Faisal Manzoor.

On 28th it was gup shup in very picturesque surroundings of Rawalpindi Golf Club, pleasant weather and excellent company of friends. Fateha was offered for departed friends and teachers. A resume was presented by the coordinator of the event, Noor ud din Ahmed. Principal CCH also addressed the audience. This was followed by sumptuous dinner with live BBQ and some light live music. Golden Jubilee cake was cut by Prof Bokhari.


 

On 29th a visit to the College made the day memorable. Wreath laying at Shuhada Monument and visiting the class rooms, dormitories and sports grounds etc were the highlights. A limited over cricket match was also played in the Oval between current faculty and Niners. Finale was lunch in Khatlani Hall after the ‘gong’ had been sounded for 5 mins. Souvenirs were distributed on the occasion and a magazine is under print to mark the celebrations.

Brig. Noor uddin Ahmed was the chief coordinator of the event. The two day event now sets a benchmark for the 10th Entry, whos golden jubilee anniversary will be held next year. Brig. Petarian-Abdalian Relief Effort (Update 18-Sep-2010)

 The following brief has been received from Kazi Zulkader, Chairman, Petarian Association which gives an update of the relief activities till Saturday, 18th September, 2010. He was in Karachi for the past couple of days and went to the Petarian-Abdalian Relief Camp at Jhimpir.

The camp site is less than an hour and a half drive from Karachi. One needs to turn left at the Nooriabad SITE area to head towards Jhimpir on a single track road.  The main camp is on the banks of the Kalri Lake.
The camp area was first cleaned out for all bushes and shrubs and levelled before laying out all the tents in proper rows in a neat and clean manner. The camp managers have tried level best to ensure that the camp is clean with no garbage lying around that can cause hygiene problems.

Abdalians get top positions in NUST entry tests

Hashim Ejaz Malik

 


Ex-Cadet Hashim Ejaz Malik (50th Entry, Iqbal Wing) grabbed first position among medical candidates for admission in NUST for the 2009 session. Hashim remained at the college from 2003 to 2008. Due to his excellent performance in various fields, he was declared as Cadet Captain in 2007-08.

 

 

Ahmed Abdullah Mahmood


In the same test, Ex-Cadet Ahmed Abdullah Mahmood (51st Entry, Liaqat Wing) secured 2nd position among engineering candidates. Abdullah was a direct entrant in the college and remained a student at CCH from 2007 to 2009.
